Deborah McKellar

Born in South Africa in 1981, Deborah McKellar spent her formative years in Johannesburg before moving to Singapore at age 20, where she has since made her home. Her work is driven by a desire to illuminate beauty even in darkness, reflecting her belief in art as a vital force for spiritual well-being.

Deborah completed her postgraduate studies in 2006 with a Master of Design, Majoring in Textiles at the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales, Australia. Prior to this she obtained a BA (HONS) Fine Arts majoring in painting in 2005 at LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore.

Deborah is renowned for her richly textured, multi-layered artworks. Combining luminous metallics, luxurious silks, painterly splashes, silkscreen prints, and expressive mark-making, she creates a distinctive visual language that is both bold and intricate.

Beyond her artistic practice, Deborah is passionate about sharing her craft and regularly conducts silkscreen printing workshops, inspiring others to explore their own creative expressions.
