Ruth Waldron
Contemporary mixed media artist Ruth Waldron, is originally from Ireland but now lives in south west France. After university she pursued her creative inclinations with a career in Interior Design for 17 years, working in both Ireland and the United Kingdom.
In 2009 she moved to Shanghai, China, where she developed her painting skills, studying traditional Chinese ink and watercolour painting with a Chinese tutor. Having lived in China and Singapore for 9 years, her paintings are a distillation of her creative experiences in both Asia and Europe. Her painting techniques have evolved out of her interpretation of eastern and western cultural influences. She combines modern abstract shapes and textures, with Asian inspired ink on paper collage in compositions reminiscent of classical Chinese art. She continues to push herself by focusing on new applications for her work, and exploring the possibilities for making subtle textures and creating depth through layered materials.
She has a full time painting practice based in her studio in France and has exhibited in group shows in France, the UK and Ireland. Her art is in collections in Ireland, France, the UK and Australia.
