Yoon Jungeun
Yoon Jungeun is an accomplished Korean contemporary artist currently based in Singapore. She studied in Australia, with a Masters and Bachelors of Fine Art from the School of Art and Culture RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia, under her belt.
She creates works that are highly meditative in both its making and viewing. The processes are repetitive; almost mesmeric. The work is created through countless, labour-intensive motions: wrapping small wooden rods and canvas packed with 7mm line brush drawings with thread, burning the hanbok fabrics, and layer-by-layer attaching them.
Highly significant, her works manifest an underlying energy through its colours and form. The energy generated from these intensive actions opens a space of poetic healing, possessing a unique beauty and harmony.
"My paintings express the stream of time, creating
invisible and intangible spaces that are to be visualized.
Reflecting my favourite colors, textures, and patterns, I have developed
visual and tactile vocabularies to depict the evolution(s) of my ideas."
