For the first time, Pantone has announced two tones for 2021's Colours of the Year; 'PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray' and 'PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating'.

These two independent colours aim to bring deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the optimistic promise of a sunshine-filled day.

Ultimate Gray is inspired by the challenges we faced in 2020 due to the pandemic. At the same time, it encourages feelings of resilience, composure and steadiness.

Illuminating, the vivid sunny yellow, represents the light at the end of that dismal tunnel. It is bright and sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power.

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute says, "The selection of two independent colours highlight how different elements come together to express a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting, conveying the idea that it's not about one colour or one person, it's about more than one."

This combination works for any home, office or commercial space with Ultimate Gray providing the firm foundation for Illuminating, lighting the way to the originality, resourcefulness and curiosity of an open mind.
