Shuvaprasanna
Born in 1947 in Kolkata, the city he currently works and lives in, Shuvaprasanna's complete abstraction could be considered 'artificial', too 'fantastical', and too wide away from the direct approach of human relations in a city like Calcutta to the untrained eye. This is due to the fact that he is not naturally a photographer who portrays reality. Shuvaprasanna reduces; he therefore abstracts gradually. His presentation of reality often has dream-like elements in it.
As the founder of Arts Acre, Shuvaprasanna has organized several important joint Indo-German graphic camps both in Calcutta and in Germany . Shuvaprasanna has received awards from the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Calcutta , Lalit Kala Akademi, Calcutta as well as the All India Fine Arts and Craft Society, New Delhi.
