British artist Gilly Beal has an MA Fine Arts from Goldsmiths. She studied history of art at the University of Wales in the 1980s, then later fine art in London at Kensington and Chelsea College and the Slade. Having lived most of her life in Asia, she became interested in calligraphy and the single brushstroke. She is intrigued by how a simple gestural stroke can create.
